Wife Of Trump Aide Files For Divorce In Hudson Valley

The wife of Yorktown native Dan Scavino, Jr., who has faithfully served as one of President Donald Trump’s closest and most trusted aides during both Trump's campaign and administration, will be divorcing from his wife, according to multiple reports released on Monday.

Jennifer Scavino filed for divorce from her husband - who serves as an assistant to the president overseeing social media - on Jan. 18 in Dutchess County, according to court records. Their latest court appearance was on March 2.

The two have been married since 2000, have two sons and a home in Hopewell Junction.

Scavino’s wife suffers from Lyme disease, and they were forced to declare bankruptcy last year after Scavino quit his job for two years to take care of her. Jennifer Scavino’s treatments reportedly cost the family nearly $500,000 over the near decade she’s been battling the disease.

The announcement, which came as a surprise to some, comes on the heels of Vanessa Trump, the wife of Donald Trump Jr., hiring a White Plains lawyer to represent her in divorce proceedings.

Dan Scavino first met Trump as a caddie in 1990 at Briarcliff Manor. He later served as a general manager at Trump National Golf Club. A Yorktown High School graduate, he was a fixture at Trump’s side during his campaign and was influential on the president’s social media accounts. Scavino has made a name on Twitter during that time for his sometimes over-the-top takes and grandiose tweets.

Scavino came under scrutiny last year for allegedly violating the Hatch Act by telling voters to defeat a Michigan congressman in a primary. Government employees can only express their opinions about partisan groups or candidates from their personal accounts, according to the Office of the Special Counsel.
